About the Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Competition
The Sixth Annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic will be held from November 13 – 17, 2015 at Siesta Key Beach on Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Recently named America’s #1 Beach, Siesta Key, has become a favorite of professional sand sculptors from the world over, who come to compete at this very special place.
Just North of Nokomis, Florida, Siesta Key Beach is about a 20-30 minute drive from Addy’s Villas if traveling North on Tamiami Trail (Hwy 41). Click Here for a Map of Siesta Key Beach.
Founded in 2010, the Crystal Classic has become a local tradition and attracts over 35,000 visitors annually.
Master sculptors create sand masterpieces, over a three day period, some over ten feet tall, and transform the always beautiful and clean Siesta Beach, into an outdoor art gallery. Because of the pristine quartz crystal sand, sculptors have remarked that their sculptures look almost as if they were “carved in marble.”
The Siesta Key Crystal Classic connects the arts and the beach in ways never before seen in this area of the Gulf Coast.
When visitors first enter the Sand Sculpture Gallery they will see the Sponsor Logo Sculpture and the number of community organizations and local businesses that support the event.
Visitors arriving on Friday have the opportunity to see the beginning stages of the sculptures and enjoy guessing what the pile of sand will look after completion.
The competition phase of the Crystal Classic ends on Sunday at noon leaving the remainder of the day, Monday and new this year, Tuesday too, for visitors to view completed sculptures.
Admission to the event is $6 per day and you may purchase your reserved parking packages HERE.
